Why We’re in the Streets
It feels good to spend time
And do something outside
I read comments online
And they leave me terrified 'cause
No one on Earth deserves to feel
Any less entitled to the air we breathe
That's why we're in the streets
We need to cultivate a people's champ
We need to stir our tea in unison
And if we need to bring out boots again
We're prepared to make another dent
If time is real then it can be your friend
80 years old and like a kid again
We're in a title bout with uncle Sam
It's time to rip it up and burn the plan
We have to fight nails and teeth
We can't turn the other cheek
Because change won't come cheap
With these racist ass police
We still gotta do what's right
And we have to lead with love
We were brought into this world
To leave it better than it was
It feels good to spend time
And do something outside
I read comments online
And they leave me terrified 'cause
No one on Earth deserves to feel
Any less entitled to the air we breathe
That's why we're in the streets
How could I just stand by
My brothers and my sisters
And choose not to move with
Something bigger
I'm sick and tired of scrolling
Though Facebook and Twitter, yeah
Pissed off at the rhetoric
From these shit-head bootlickers
We have to fight nails and teeth
We can't turn the other cheek
Because change won't come cheap
With these racist ass police
We still gotta do what's right
And we have to lead with love
We were brought into this world
To leave it better than it was
It feels good to spend time
And do something outside
I read comments online
And they leave me terrified 'cause
No one on Earth deserves to feel
Any less entitled to the air we breathe
That's why we're in the streets
