In chapter 10 there are a lot of bad and sad events that happened. In the first part of the book on PG 119 line 9 "I would fight anyone from third cousin upwards tooth and nail." This Means that Scout uses fighting to resolve her problems, Scout already fought Francis this proves Scout will fight moistly anyone to protect the family name and her father. Also on the first page of the chapter 10, Scout and Jem are talking about Atticus and how much of an old man he is, they talk about his facial features like his glasses. Atticus says how the left eye is the tribal curse of the Finches.

In chapter 10 Scout got an air soft gun, and she was playing with it and aiming at Miss Maudie's rear end, When Atticus went to tell Miss Maudie she looked at Atticus and said "Atticus you are a devil from hell", It is Kind of like a metaphor because she us referring to him as the devil. This quote was said on PG 121 line 17. On PG 121 line 15 when Atticus said "I thought I'd better warn you. You're in considerable peril". I didn't know what it meant, I tried to think of what it meant but I couldn't put it together. I researched it and it means danger or trouble. Why did the author choose such tricky words.

PG 123 line 25-28 it says "This is Cal. I swear to god there's a mad dog down the street a piece-he's comin' this way, yes sir, he's- Mr. Finch, I declare he is- old Tim Johnson, yes sir...yessir...yes-" This sentence was said by Calpurnia, and it shows emotional impact. The way the author wrote this made me realize that there was panic. On PG 123 line 20 it says "Reminded me of a car stuck in a sand bed" This is imaginary and Scout was talking about what the dog reminded him of.

Scout and Jem Don't like it when their dad get's called a "Nigger lover" and that almost happened on PG 128 of the last line to the first line of PG 129, "Didn't you know your daddy's -"
"hush, heck", said Atticus. Atticus knows Jem and Scout hate people calling their father a "Nigger Lover".

In the book these are some words I do not know... feeble (lacking strength), Plank might hit you (like a piece of wood might hit you), considerable peril (danger), breastworks (temporary defense), foliage (plants and leaves), vehemently (strong feeling), Druthers (a persons preference), jubilantly (happiness and triumph). And some questions I have to the author are...why did the author choose such tricky words? why was the book so depressing in most chapters? why do they talk mostly about sad stuff and not enough happy?.
