I miss my grandpa
He died a year ago
I have a last memory of him
From his last Christmas evening
He wanted to show me something
A crossbow carved out of old wood
Hanging in his garage
With arrows that looked like butter knives
But with arrowheads from darts
He hung on a dartboard on the wall and I tried it myself
It almost cut the board in half
It was an excellent construction
Fine-tuned to near perfection
I asked him what it was for
But he didn't say anything
Or maybe it was his hearing
And we shook hands like we always did
Ever since I was a little kid
And on my way home
The snow started falling
And I had more than a question
I really wanted to get to know him
I really wanted to get to know him
I really wanted to get to know him
