I was told by Phil Ramone, who was a friend of Ray Charles
That Ray wanted to do a song with me
"You have anything in mind that you could write for Ray and you?"
I mean, I idolized Ray Charles all my life
He's probably my favorite singer of all time
So I thought, "I'll write a song about something we have in common"
And what's been the most consistent thing in our lives?
The piano
I love the extended metaphor of the piano as a lifelong love affair
I adore that song
And then getting Ray Charles to sing with him, that's, that's genius
