Robert Glasper
Interlude: Common’s Gratitude (Live)
You know, I met Bilal when he and Rob was at the New School, and I, man, I was just excited to be able to, to like-- Once I heard his demo, I was like, this dude, I was just telling my cousin, man, “this dude is incredible, man. This dude is like, yo, he can do anything with his voice.”
And, I was like, able to, have him like we created on so many, so many songs. But just in that, Like Water For Chocolate day as Ahmir said, like the albums and the material that was coming out of there, the fruit like…Just hearing these songs now is making me feel like, wow, that was a time that like, man, I'm just grateful that I lived through those times and was around these artists like, this is one of the greatest artists and vocalists we will ever see on the planet
And it has no time
And Ahmir’s been a genius behind so much, so much work that we've done. He's continued to just show his genius and show up for all of us all the time. But these albums and and the way we created wouldn't have been without Ahmir just bringing us together
So I just wanted to say that and I love you, Burniss, man. You one of the dopest bringing that spirit. And what's your name again, G? No, no, but listen, Rob is a special dude. He actually came to my house and would try to teach me piano, but I sucked so. Or either he a teacher that sucks, so. I don't know, one of the two, but, he is…Rob is lit this world up with so much music
And no matter where you go in this world, like, people talk and feel Robert Glasper. Look. And man, he's continuing to evolve the music and just bring people together. So I just want to say how grateful I am to be with this collective. And, thank you, Glasshaus
