Patti LuPone & Deedee Magno Hall
God on The Road
Old fashioned winds blow scents from the bakery
School kids on bikes in the morning go by me
Blonde headed gal rolls down the window
And slows her car down pretending i see her
But i see the sunrise and moss on the sidewalk
And building around me have been here for centuries
Old chapel town pretty as when it was built
I think i saw god on the road
I think i saw god on the road
Now the postman in blue clothes leaves me a letter
I'm on the front lawn just tryna see better
And I'll read a book as an apprentice
On this old spring day I'll write down an entry
In an old fashioned book once given to me
By a very wise man who left his mark on me
I think i saw god on the road
I think i saw god on the road
The colors are switching we cross the Atlantic
God has gone hunting we don't judge his antics
But I'm gonna try to finish my memoirs
But my thoughts in the basement my mind has gone crazy
So listen the preacher forever we roam
I think i saw god on the road
I think i saw god on the road
I think i saw god on the road
I think i saw god on the road
I think i saw god on the road
