The Ancient Power of Groudon and Kyogre
Primal Reversion is a new feature to the Pokémon universe. So far, it is the equivalent to Mega Evolution, but only seen to be use by the legendary Groudon and Kyogre. The following is the two part legend of the Ancients...Long, long ago, there appeared in Hoenn two Pokémon of fearsome power. These two became known, in later times, as Groudon and Kyogre. When Groudon howled, the earth swelled and the land grew wide. The sun blazed overhead, and all the world around the creature was enveloped in incandescent heat. When Kyogre roared, water poured forth and the seas spread outward. Dark clouds enshrouded the world, and the deluge fell upon all...
It was a primal age, early in the world’s history. The natural world was overflowing with energy. That energy granted Groudon and Kyogre an overwhelming power. Seeking ever more of that energy for themselves, the two clashed again and again, and their battles cast the people and Pokémon of Hoenn into great danger. Brimming with the overwhelming power granted to them by nature’s energy, their transformation was named "Primal Reversion" by later people. And the people called their tormentors Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre...
Groudon in its Primal form adds more mass and height to its body. It was already the heaviest Pokémon to exist, but now it weighs 2,204.4 pounds. It has gained an extra five feet and change. It appears that it has a new ability that Nintendo is keeping a secret right now. He gains Fire as a secondary type. That makes sense seeing as Groudon can already learn plenty of Fire-type moves and in its it seemingly has magma running through its Primal body. The trailer and screenshots reveal a new move. It may be a new signature move for Groudon. Because of its boosted Attack stat, the move is probably physical. Maybe when Groudon undergoes its reversion, Fissure is transformed into a new move, much like Kyurem when it fuses with another of the Tao Trio.
Kyorge, the one who creates seas. Kyorge receives a huge growth spurt, doubling in size., Weighing in at 948 pounds with a said height of 32 feet and one inch, this fierce monster is a force of nature. Similar to Groudon, its body is full of energies as “its body composition becomes nearly a match for seawater”. However, instead of showing water flowing through its body, it glows just as a sapphire would under light. Truly a beautiful Pokémon. The spike in its Special Attack means a majority of the Water-type moves it can learn will pack a bigger punch. This new form comes with a hidden ability and a new, never before seen move. The fact of the matter is that Groudon and Kyorge had become weaker as time passed. They bodies became smaller and more seasoned. This is because the lack of natural energy they would feast on. That can explain why retreat to the Cave of Origins in the first illustration of the Pokémon games. The two titans are known for being ancient powers. Their Japanese titles brings a better understanding, as 超古代ポケモン translate to “Ultra-Ancient Pokémon”. The Japanese anime has also called to Fossil Pokémon 超古代ポケモン, so could this mean that Fossil Pokémon will be receiving Primal Reversions? Of course, this may not be the case, as Aerodactyl has a Mega Evolution and the said Pokémon would have to use natural energy to achieve this state. What about Genosect? As it’s Pokédex entry reads, “Over 300 million years ago, it was feared as the strongest of hunters. It has been modified by Team Plasma.” Another worthy Pokémon is Zygarde. It supposedly has an hidden ability that it will use when the Kalos region's ecosystem falls into disarray. Only then will the Dragon reveals its secret power.
And last but not less, the great Rayquaza. The Primal Reversion is going to boost the stats of Groudon and Kyorge, but what will come to the master of Weather Trio? He can’t be inferior, as he is the mediator of his kin. Since it lives in the ozone layer, it might be trying to recover any natural energy to use once Groudon and Kyorge revert to those forms again. Remember, Rayguaza is the only one that can stop the two. What do you guys think of this? Please feel free to use the comment section below.
