Nineteen Eighty-Four (Book 3, Chapter 7)
It was the year 2024. The victory had been long ago. After Winston loved his Big Brother, Winston tore BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU and went quietly through the city and around the town.
Suddenly, someone caught his attention. It was a policeman and his villainous crowd from outside! They turned on Winston. The policeman yelled loudly, "You!"
The policeman whips Winston across the face with his hands.
Winston saw the horror! It was with the whip marks on his face.
Winston looks away in pain but soon turns his head, glaring at the policeman. He recoils at the sight, shocked. Winston now has a whip mark on his left eye just like Big Brother. The policeman recovers quickly.
"What have you done?" said the policeman.
Winston replied, "I-I-I didn't mean to... it-it-it wasn't my fault, I did nothing!"
The policeman was angry! He glared at Winston. "Exactly! And in doing so, you betrayed your villainous crowd... betrayed The Party!"
Winston shouted to the policeman. "I want nothing more to do with him!"
"You cannot escape it!" yelled the policeman. "Big Brother is dead because of you! You've killed your own Big Brother!"
Winston yelled loudly at the top of his lungs. "No!"
Winston turns and runs out from among the villainous crowd of people, many of whom are talking quietly and murmuring still at his departure.
"Let him go." said the policeman. He turned to the villainous crowd of people.
"O'Brien has hurt me for the last time... now he's corrupted, Winston! Listen to me... O'Brien is injured and weak. Now is the time to attack! We will take his entire kingdom... by force!"
There was wild cheering and the applause had come to an end from the villainous crowd of people. Some of the people began to whistle. Winston was so terrified by the whistling that he sobbed in sadness, left his place, and took one last look at the crowd led by the policeman like the animals led by the lion. When the clapping and shouting had died down again plus the whistling growing louder, Winston, who had walked away, intimated that he too had strutted slowly like a peacock to the new public dock.
The whistling stopped at last! The policeman and the crowd of villainous people walked slowly to get their chariot of horses, ostriches, ravens, and guard dogs.
Meanwhile, the good people will summon livestock, aquarium animals, wild animals (including lions, tigers, bears, zebras, and vultures), aviary animals, amphibians, and reptiles.
Winston can't remember who he is. Is he going to die? Or is he going to the public dock again?
Winston watched the seagulls, pelicans, and sea lions on the beach.
The sea lion climbed up the stairs and gave Winston a kiss. That made Winston feel better.
Suddenly a loud voice rang out, "WINSTON!" made the seagulls and pelicans fly away and the sea lions run back into the ocean. It was Julia!
Julia was so excited that she met Winston again. "Winston, I'm excited you met the sea lions. Tomorrow, the policeman and his people will summon a chariot of ostriches and horses this time. Do you have your staff?"
Winston replied back. "Well, yes. I will show you the staff." Winston saw the golden shining stick to Julia. The sea lions, pelicans, and seagulls love the idea! They are going to a place like the Promise Land, California!
So Winston and Julia (with their sea lions, pelicans, and seagulls) prepare for the final plan, Plan Z: the journey to California and to tell the other people the good news.
