Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage
Except For the Fact That it Isn’t
So many planes in the air with people going somewhere
And voices on the radio dials
All of the signs pointing towards awesome times
And the message is signed off with smiles
I woke up on time and the shower was fine
My exercise is getting better with practice
I can stand on the scale
Drop the bills in the mail
And walk out while suffocating in blackness
So I must be out of my mind because everything is fine (nothing wrong)
Except for the fact that it isn’t (what’s wrong with you?)
So I must be out of my mind because everything is fine (nothing wrong)
Except for the fact that it isn’t (what’s wrong with you?)
All the trees shake and fly tossing leaves in the sky
A squirrel stops eating and sees me
And he’s eating again 'cuz he sees I’m a friend
And he knows he can just take it easy
And the morning returns
And the steamroller churns
Till the highway is straightened and flattened
And the sun comes and dangled at warm happy angles
And I wake up and wish I hadn’t
So I must be out of my mind because everything is fine (nothing wrong)
Except for the fact that it isn’t (what’s wrong with you?)
So I must be out of my mind because everything is fine (nothing wrong)
Except for the fact that it isn’t (what’s wrong with you?)
Tell ‘em Mem
I can work on some stuff
I can stress when it’s tough
I can make a to-do list and do it
At the end of the day, I can sit back and say
That’s one less and at least I got through it
And there’s a roof and a floor
And there’s walls and a door
And there’s a table and chair and a bed
So I must be okay so how come every day I wake up and I wish I was dead
I must be out of my mind because everything is fine (nothing wrong)
Except for the fact that it isn’t (what’s wrong with you?)
I must be out of my mind because everything is fine (nothing wrong)
Except for the fact that it isn’t
(nothing wrong)
(what’s wrong with you?)
(nothing wrong)
(what’s wrong with you?)
