Gord Downie
The Raven and the Red-Tailed Hawk
I watched a raven hawk hop hop hop, rock rock rock to rock
Still hot round the host fire's afterglow
Yesterday saw that raven picking at an empty heart and rocking by the side of the road
I tossed a rock it echoed cross the vacant lot
The raven caught and slowly indolently flew away
Look down and stare I shouldn't care I shouldn't care
It's not like we were going to be good friends anyway
Some days I can't do it
Sometimes I just can't do it
The only way around is through it
Some days I can't do it
Some days I just can't do it
The only way around is through it
Maybe nature's war or maybe war is nurture
Maybe we were never really going to be good friends anyway
The clouds break up windows down windows up the curtains puff
Enough enough time to get on with the day
Red-tailed hawk drop drop drop from a flying star like a rock
On to something in the grass below
Yesterday I watched that hawk just staring at a raven picking
At some empty helmet by the road
Some days I can't do it
Sometimes I just can't do it
The only way around is through it
Some days I can't do it
Some days I just can't do it
The only way around is through it
See a red-tailed hawk drop drop drop from a flying star like a rock
On to something in the grass below
Yesterday I watched that hawk just staring at a raven picking
At some empty helmet by the road
Some days I can't do it
Sometimes I just can't do it
The only way around is through it
Some days I can't do it
Some days I just can't do it
The only way around is through it
Can't do it
It's through it
Can't do it
It's through it
Can't do it
It's through it
Can't do it
Can't do it
The only way around is through it
