Qing Feng Wu 吳青峰 - Outsider (English Translation)

[Verse 1]

Longing allows me to become, an émigré pondering who disappeared

Longing comprises my life a madman's memoir who could read

[Verse 2]

Behind me those dangers take my piece by piece, forcing me to the edge

For at the edge came dangers flowing incessantly

[Chorus]

Falling, unconscious of endless darkness

Rends me wrecks me in the twinkling of an eye

Build me back up encircle me with comfort

Clasp my hands cup my eyes

[Verse 3]

Death is this world adding you then promptly subtracting you

At last, we discover every one of us is nothing special

And so discover "we" is just this special

[Chorus]

Falling yet conscious nonetheless the darkness embracing me

A suspension of breath burying me in oblivion

Splits me scatters me endlessly

Clutched my bubble cuffed my tears

[Monologue 1]

Once, the world in front of us was a huge mystery, we knew not to fear

But now, the mysteries are unlocked

Fear, it turns out, is the formalin we're soaking in

[Monologue 2]

Who are you?

When you still lay in the bosom of childhood, swaddled in damp bedclothes

You once fell for someone, wrote little notes every day

As the school uniforms faded yellow, long shoved into the corner of a drawer

In the bustle of being let from school

Looking back only to find the pavement was deserted except for you

The asphalt streaming underneath

Once you watched the clouds for a whole afternoon so curious were you

Trapped some ants with whiteout

But recalling from a textbook how hardworking ants were

You quickly let them go

[Monologue 3]

One day, all those notes the world passed on to you

Have made yo thick-skinned and shameless;

You know the composition of the clouds, that sometimes they turn into acid rain

Pluto was abruptly kicked out like a rubber ball

While you discover, you are that dizzy trapped by whiteout

[Monologue 4]

When I was still a fish, before my legs had formed

Who was I, where was I

Our communication, why has it become a drawbridge long in need of repair

We and ourselves, have also lost touch (Lost touch, lost touch, lost touch)

[Monologue 5]

I always confuse one memory with another

Dark night has passed, but dawn is taking so long

Those things that will eventually be forgotten, are they worth writing down

How I wish someone would tell me: "You are not going nuts; there are others like you"

[Monologue 6]

Who can say for me the things I cannot say

Sing the songs I cannot sing

Painting out inside my dream, the sings of being unable to wake

Through a song

I found people whose dreams were the same as mine

[Monologue 7]

Reluctant to sleep when awake

Reluctant to wake up when asleep

The weightless self

Thus having gravity

Where the heart leads is home

My heart stays by the side, watching me

Telling me

Thank you for waiting, I am home
