Genius Japan
Japanese Songs Formatting Guide
This page summarizes all the things you need to pay attention to when formatting Japanese lyrics. Unless detailed, other formatting should always follow the Genius Formatting Guide
1. Don't use full-width spaces, use half-width
2. If a punctuation mark is following an English word/sentence, it should be converted to the standard way of English punctuation, not Japanese punctuation
3. Vice versa, if the punctuation is following a Japanese character, they should be Japanese punctuation
4. Avoid using italics in between Japanese lyrical lines
(This is temporarily on-hold, please continue to follow the standard formatting at this time being)
5. Remove special characters that are inaudible/unable to pronounce
6. Remove periods (。/.) which might appear after each song section
7. Use standardized spellings
8. Always try your best to add song headers
