Arashi was officially formed off the coast of Honolulu, Hawaii on September 15 1999. Since their debut, the boy band has become wildly popular, selling more than 41 million records and performing for some 14 million people. In 2014, they were back in Hawaii to perform live concerts to celebrate their 15th anniversary with a total 30,000 fans. Now in 2022, the "Storm" is back again in the United States—on the big screens at 135 participating Dolby Cinema nationwide, including Hawaii, to once again stir up all over the world!
The film is based on the live performance held specifically for shooting on December 23, 2019, at Tokyo Dome Theater. Using a total of 127 cameras, most of the camera crews of the day were those who had worked with Arashi in the past.
The film and live performance staff, including the director Yukihiko Tsutsumi, has been heavily involved with Arashi since his direction of Arashi's first film Pika☆nchi LIFE IS HARD dakedo HAPPY (02). Without going into too much detail, the film gathered to record the view that the 52,000 viewers and the five Arashi members saw together.
The film has become the highest-grossing live concert film of all time in Japan and continues to be shown in theatres nationwide marking the long run. Celebrating the release of ARASHI ANNIVERSARY TOUR 5x20 FILM ‘RECORD OF MEMORIES’ in the 135 theaters across 30 states of the United States on March 22(23 in Hawaii), 2022, 217 Japanese theaters will host a special release event simultaneously.
