George The Poet
The Lazy Dog
Imagine having a starving hound
Barking loud without calming down
You know the reason for the dog's bad mood:
It's been a while since the dog's had food
But the sound is more annoying than Crazy Frog
What's his problem? Must be a lazy dog
Skulking around trying to act hard
When there's more than enough to eat in the backyard
You don't take him running, cause you go to jog alone
Before you leave you throw the dog a bone
Thinking: 'He looks depressed, but he won't faze me
If he's that hungry he shouldn't be so lazy.'
You don't call the dog by name cause he responds to 'Oi'
Sees the meat on the bone and jumps for joy
But it's out of his reach, cause he's tied to the kennel
And he can't exactly hitch a ride in a Renault
It doesn't take a dissertation with Harvard references
To work out the dog's going to starve to death because
Every time you throw him something to eat
It lands metres in front of his feet
See giving someone a chance isn't the same as to set them free
That's why when someone's in trouble it's not enough to just let them be
What's the point in claiming to sing a song of hope when your passing judgement?
How's a sinner going to cope?
We're planning a prison break - bring along a rope
And if the rope ain't long enough bring a longer rope
Suppliers give the buyers, give the slinger stronger dope
And the heart tells the heart ignorance is bliss
But the joints can't work if the ligaments are twisted
I hope you understand the significance of this
There's so much potential for magnificence at risk
But just like my words the iterance persists
Just like my words the iterance persists ...
I hope you understand the significance of this
