MdrnStNick: *Bumps mic and causes feedback*
Gosh, I hate these things. Sorry, I'm a bit new to this. Let's start simply, what's your name here on Genius and what inspired it?Encognito: So my name is an interesting thing since I used to go by my real name. I went with Encognito since my cousin called me Encog through text, then one of my friends thought incognito, and I thought it would be nice to use it in other places too.MdrnStNick: So I'm just curious, are you trying to hide something by being Inco- Encognito?Encognito: No.MdrnStNick: Gotcha, just a play on the word. I will say it's very unique and cool even. Taking part of your real name and making this almost mysterious and intriguing pull in artist name. So do you plan to use it as a publishing artist if you go that route?Encognito: Yes! I actually am thinking about it, but who knows? Maybe I come up with something better, but not long like Jermainious’s new name.MdrnStNick: Yeah… It was already long and then he added some more right? He added Da 1 for some reason. 😆Encognito: Yeah, he decided to do that randomly.MdrnStNick: Which speaking of him (Love ya, Jermain), Y'all have released multiple collaborative albums here on Genius? Tell me a little bit about that.Encognito: Those are things I've been planning for a year, just didn't know how. Jermainious just makes the art, puts the songs on, time to time song names he made, and has some features. It is something similar to what people on the older Genius Cyphers did. And the dates are actually birthday's of some of my family, so expect something on July 17th also.MdrnStNick: Oh wow! So you aren't the first to release a Genius only album then?Encognito: Yes, but some have disappeared, and others were, something else… but doesn't matter I guess, and there are others still doing that stuff, like Delphinium.MdrnStNick: Oh… That's totally not slightly terrifying. Like, I have so many more questions about why are they gone and what are the, “something else.”
But getting back to you, I know that you enjoy writing so much to the point you made three albums and multiple cyphers and verses. So what inspires the majority of your creative process?Encognito: I started listening to secular music like many, then I changed and listened to artists like Hulvey, Forrest Frank, KB, and Bryson Gray, and I wanted to show my faith and skill in a way.MdrnStNick: That's wonderful! We will need to collab some time for sure. But let's get a little more personal… what's your least favorite food? 👨🍳Encognito: That is a very intense question since I haven't really cared for what food tastes like, and it's been a while since I had something nasty. Or even something that just doesn't taste that good.MdrnStNick: That's legit, just don't let me in the kitchen or you WILL know what bad food is… Anyway, on the topic of food, do you have a favorite restaurant chain perchance?Encognito: I guess Miguel’s since it is one in Cali. Well really Miguel's Jr. but either way those burritos are so good.MdrnStNick: Love me a good burrito, don't have any spots around here in MS though. But hey, you mentioned quite a few artists earlier, what are some of your favorite songs by them and have you done anything on Genius to support these artists?Encognito: Some of my favorite songs from Hulvey are Anxiety, True, World Hunger, Can't Tell It All. From Forrest, No Longer Bound, Your Way's Better, UP!. From KB, Tempo, Drowning, Sideways. From Bryson, Complicated, Bringing God Back, and JESUS. I haven't done much for Hulvey and Forrest. You'll find some songs with my help from KB and Bryson is one I have tried to find when he drops so I can add the songs.MdrnStNick: Yeah! I love all those artists too. I'm actually going to be performing UP! at a music competition later in May, so I hope I do it justice. And KB is my all-time favorite CHH/Rap artist! So I know you want to share your faith through your lyrics and (possible) future songs, but what do you want the message of your music to be in one word?Encognito: Impactful. And that can mean many things since anything can make an impact. Oh and good luck with that competition.MdrnStNick: Thanks! And that’s a great thought, making an impact instead of fading into the limelight. But can we go a little deeper as to what kind of impact you hope to see your music make?Encognito: An impact that gives people faith and hope.MdrnStNick: That’s so inspiring and dope for real for real. I hope it goes well for you man. I do wanna cover one other thing before we begin to wrap up. So where do you see yourself in three years, four months, seven days, and thirty-five mins from now? How do you plan to get there and what would you tell others to do to reach a similar goal?Encognito: That's very specific… but I see myself either on my way to graduate or fail high school, the former and better one is more likely. If I were to tell others to reach a similar goal, listen to what the adults say so you can either agree or argue with what they said. But also I see myself probably trying to get a rap career, and that requires years of practice.MdrnStNick: For sure! So you are saying listen to those around you to learn what you need or defend what you know already if they are wrong. That’s a good motto right there. So one more question, how many views is this interview gonna reach in a month? Let’s see if you can be prophetic.Encognito: It's hard to say. Possibly over or under 100, but still around 100 since most of the interviews have been around 100, at least at this time. But that's all I can come up with.MdrnStNick: Nice answer, safe, but sound and makes sense. Me, personally, think closer to 500 since we are GOATED, but that’s just my opinion. It’s been wonderful, good sir. Anything else you wanna share?Encognito: Lol. No, nothing else.MdrnStNick: Godspeed, my friend.Encognito: Alright, have a great day.
