FatherArls: Heyhey! Welcome to this honorary interview. Featuring, some short girl and the amazing, NoNameBoyy. Come here, right here, stay here and just make yourself comfortable there in your little chair and please read along. To start off, how are you? howās this year going for you so far?
NoNameBoyy: I had a nice day so Iām very happy, what about you?
I havenāt really seen the transition to 2021 to be honest. Late 2020 I was at home, early 2021 Iām at home
FatherArls: So glad you had a nice day; Iām super duper happy! I personally enjoy being a homebody. What do you do to pass time or what would you do if circumstances were different, after all you do live in France ācity of loveā? š
NoNameBoyy: Even though Iām at home every day due to the circumstances, I donāt have lots of free time with classes and everything. During the week, when Iām not in class, Iām either on Genius or playing video games. My weekends, on the other hand, I spend them outside, playing soccer. I admit itās not super covid-friendly, and it would be a lie to say that we respect barrier gestures and social distancing, but there are things I canāt do without and thatās one of them
iām eating fries š
the said fries haha
FatherArls: Some wise man once said, āRules are meant to be brokenāāāthen he died. Jk, please be safe. In previous Tatesā youāve mentioned, math, computer science and economic theory. What is it about economics you enjoy so much? Also, aside from my feelings what video games do you play?š jk
I demand you share your fries nowš”
NoNameBoyy: fifty fifty, haha
I am not playing with anyone's feelings š
I mainly play Rocket League with @Swono (sometimes @Careblech) and also Warzone. And, yup, youāre right. I am in my first year of a 5-year degree called Data Science for Social Sciences. I have a wide range of courses but itās very, very much focused on economics. itās a really weird year as I barely went to university cause of corona. I only know a few people in my class, Iāve never seen other peopleās faces and my teachers' faces either. What I enjoy about economics is being able to contradict those who talk about economics without knowing how it works. The economics teachers I had in high school were all left-wing, and they had a way of teaching that often glorified the left-wing and the French political system and denigrated all forms of liberalism (probably why they became teachers and not economists). Honestly, even though I didn't know much about it, I could clearly see that they were in a tunnel vision with assumptions biased by political and moral choices. When I understood this I thought: "No, this is not possible, I can't end up talking about a matrix and forgetting half of the vectors." So that's kind of what I like about economics, first of all understanding the whole mechanism and then reminding people who, in a conversation of a political nature, are trying to indoctrinate me when in fact they've forgotten a lot of things in their reasoning. ā§
FatherArls: Amazing, brilliant, fantastic! A nerd in the making! Speaking of faces, youāve seen Swonoās face in real life. How has it been to develop a friendship with Swono outside of Genius, I also know he promoted you to be editor, how did all that happen, what was that like?
NoNameBoyy: wow, itās such a long story. When I first joined Genius, I was doing a bit of a mess, and Swono came into my DM to tell me that I had to stop doing what I was doing. But I didnāt stop, so he yelled at me and then offered to mentor me. At first, I didnāt really care about the mentoring stuff, but after a few months, I started to really get into it. We already knew each other a little bit, and it was pretty nice and useful. I started sending him my tates and then, since we had similar musical tastes, we often took the opportunity to exchange on the music itself, etc. I was very happy to be able to share my knowledge and music with him. We really developed this relationship outside the Genius framework. And a few days after my promotion I clicked and said, āHey bro, we live nearby, when do we meet?ā We went to McDonaldās, and a few weeks later, I was in his room mistreating him on Fifa
FatherArls: I now know youāre a very stubborn fellaš What a beautiful love story!! Did you order fries from McDonaldās? No seriously though, I see you're a big Lil Peep fan. You work a lot on him; so much in fact youāre his top scholar šÆ Enlighten us on that. Btw, iām listening to Ghost Girl right now, hehe
NoNameBoyy: oooh you like lil peep?
jugginnn on a friday
skrrrrrrrrt
FatherArls: I love Lil Peepee, what do you mean?
who do you think i am?
NoNameBoyy: idk, how am i supposed to know
now i like you even more LOL
i mean u usually like all genres of music
Nope, I donāt know if itās just in France but the fries at McDonaldās are bad. So I usually take potatoes
Peep probably represents close to 75% of my Genius contributions in terms of time and yes, I love his music, even a little too much. My long-term goal is to complete everything there is to complete (Archives, annotations etc.)
NoNameBoyy: is it called āpotatoesā in the US too?
FatherArls: All fries at McDonaldās are called, French Fries.
They look like this
NoNameBoyy: (Iāll finish what I have to say about Peep now.)
I kind of discovered Peep on Genius, I used to know his music, but I wasnāt really into it. I was listening to him on Spotify and God knows how many masterpieces were missing before his mother started re-releasing his SoundCloud stuff. Iāve always liked Mackned, and at the time he had released an album (which is no longer on Spotify) that had a feat with Peep, āMissed Calls.ā Then, by listening to it, Spotify started to put Lil Peep (and Brennan Savage, a Peep friend) in my Discover weekly playlist. And today theyāre honestly the two artists that I like and listen to the most. Iām also #1 on Brennan savage
FatherArls: Perfection. Fucking amazing, youāre a literal Genius
FatherArls: Wait.. do I put all of this talk about French fries on the interview??
NoNameBoyy: It will be our little secret that the interview was disrupted by conversations about food. Conversation that is however not over. I still have some questions to ask but I will ask you later.
FatherArls: Youāre going to ask me questions? This is your interview
NoNameBoyy: what do you mean lol
am I supposed to just answer ^_^
FatherArls: Well, yes. This interview is all about getting to know, the famous, the charming, NoNameBoyy
Who cares about FatherArls, she can go drown right now
The attention is on you
NoNameBoyy: the famous lol, bullshit tbh ^^
FatherArls: Maybe one day you will be famous; I just hope you remember your friends from Genius.šWhere do you see yourself in 10 years, in terms of Genius and personal life?
NoNameBoyy: To be honest, Iām someone who really lives from day to day. I donāt really have a dream or plan for my future both on Genius and in life.
In my life, Iām in school right now. And thatās where it stops. I donāt have a personal project or future dream. Maybe I see myself as an economic teacher and not much else. A strange vision of life, a form of nothingness, but that doesnāt make my life sad, on the contrary.
On the Genius side, I initially wanted to stop after Peep. I always felt that my contributions were only relevant on him. I wanted to complete his pages and then leave. But in the last few months, Iāve diversified, Iāve gained knowledge about other artists, which Iād like to share. Moreover, with get involved, friendships are created with other users, and my use of Genius has lately tended to become a bit like a social media. And all of this makes me think that my experience will never end. Only the end of Genius will put an end to it.
FatherArls: Very nice, Iām sure other userās can relate to you. Lil Peep is an amazing artist I agree, so thank you very much for your contribution on him; and I also sincerely do wish you the best in whatever you decide to do in the future in 10 years, 2 years or 50.Hope to see you around for lots more years too!šš¼
NoNameBoyy: Thank you, I hope so too haha
FatherArls: Alrighty, final question for you my friend. On your annotation over your favorite quote
you said ālive fast die youngāā what does that mean to you?
NoNameBoyy: Wow, thatās a real existential question. I must admit that this idea of life that Iāve made was mostly forged last year. Iāve had a bit of the same kind of brainwave that we all probably have in our lives. The day we begin to think deeply about what our mentality is based on, how our education has shaped us.
I have a mom who is very interested in religion. Often when she would come home from work she would bring back the flyers that the Jehovahās Witnesses distribute on the street. Iām not used to reading them (I never read them), but the headline is very apparent so of course, it leads us to at least read the headline. And there was this one with something written like, āThe key for an everlasting life.ā I had a religious upbringing, I believed in the existence of God, Heaven, and I still do. But do I care? This flyer made me think a lot. Do I want to spend my life praising God, or do I want to āscrew it upā by sinning all day long? But in the end, what they call sin may not be sin for me. And thatās kind of conclusion Iāve come to, this redefinition of good and evil. I have spent too much time living the way I was supposed to be rather than the way I wanted to be. I want to enjoy life by doing what my heart and mind tell me, at my own risk. Thatās kind of why I removed the last part of the quote (ālive fast, die young and leave a good-looking corpseā). My goal is not to leave a beautiful corpse, but My corpse.
FatherArls: Wow, very deep. Iām stunned.
I applaud your mature way of thinking. That was beautifully explained and very descriptive. Anything else youād like to say before we finish this lovely interview?
NoNameBoyy: just wanna share much love on this heart-shaped community
FatherArls: Right back at ya! Iām sure weād all hug if we could, but we canāt; for very obvious reasons.
NoNameBoyy thank you for your time, reader thank you for your time. Thatās all for tonight, take care!šš¼
