Virginia Huston as Ann Miller, Robert Mitchum as Jeff Bailey and Paul Valentine as Joe Sefanos in the 1947 movie, Out of the Past. Kirk Douglas plays gangster Whit Sterling.

Sternwood Rutledge, Sonia Darrin as Agnes Lozier and John Rodgely as Eddie Mars in the 1946 movie, The Big Sleep. Owen Taylor (played by Dan Wallace), the Sternwood’s chauffeur, killed the book dealer.

Movie 8:
Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade, Mary Astor as Ruth Wonderly/Brigid O'Shaughnessy, Gladys George as Iva Archer, Peter Lorre as Joel Cairo and Sydney Greenstreet as Kasper Gutman in the 1941 movie, The Maltese Falcon. The falcon is made of lead, but described by Spade as “the stuff that dreams are made of.”

Movie 9:
Ann Sheridan as Laury Ferguson, Pat O'Brien as Jerry Connolly, James Cagney as Rocky Sullivan, and Humphrey Bogart as James Frazier in the 1938 movie, Angels with Dirty Faces. Home Alone samples this movie in several of its scenes.
