Raphael Saadiq
Big Easy (Live in Paris)
[Intro]
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Paris, this next song is called "The Big Easy"
I wrote this song for the victims of Hurricane Katrina
I know you all heard about it New Orleans, right?
But in New Orleans, when they mourn, they party and dance
And dance in the middle of the street
And I wrote this song a couple of years ago
But I just got a chance to visit New Orleans before I came to Paris
And I had a chance to go to the Ninth Ward, that's where everything happened at
Where all the houses are all down, all gone away
It's only steps left there, you know, porches and steps, the houses are gone
Boards on the wall with numbers on 'em, how many people left dead in the house
With the Coast Guard with the troop numbers all over the houses
And it gave me this real eerie feeling, it reminded me why I wrote this song in the first place
And I walked through the houses, and I talked to the people that were still hanging around
You know what? But everybody had a smile on their face
So what I wanna do today, what I wanna do tonight in this beautiful place called Paris
How do you say "Everybody" in French? Is it, uh, tout le monde? Tout le monde
Applaudissez

[Verse 1]
Somebody tell me
What's going wrong — there you go
I ain't seen my baby
In far too long
Somebody please tell me
What's going wrong
They say them levees broke
And my baby's gone
Listen now
It's been a couple of days
And real dark nights
I miss my only child
I ain't seen her since that night
She left home about eight
And never to return
Our body's floatin'
Floatin' through that river
[Chorus]
I gotta know
Tell me what's going wrong
I ain't seen my baby
In far too long
Somebody please tell me
What's going wrong
They say them levees broke
And my baby's gone

[Verse 2]
I've been searching all around
Day and day and night
Somebody please tell me
I need to feel light
So many souls crying (Crying)
How could this be?
Every step I take, I can't help
But oh Lord, please rescue me

[Chorus]
Somebody tell me
What's going wrong
I ain't seen my baby
In far too long
Somebody please tell me
What's going wrong
They say them levees broke
And my baby's gone
Please somebody tell me
What's going wrong
I ain't seen my baby
In far too long
Just tell me
What's going wrong
They say them levees broke
And my baby's gone
[Bridge]
Please somebody tell me
Come on
I'm taking everybody in the room to New Orleans
Let's get on the airplane now
Clap your hands, come on
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Come on

[Outro]
Please somebody tell me
Come on and tell me
Please somebody tell me
Come on and tell me
Please somebody tell me
Come on and tell me
Need the whole room to move with me left to right
Come on, oh
Somebody tell me (Tell me what's going on), oh my God
Somebody tell me (Tell me what's going on), oh my God
Somebody tell me (Tell me what's going on), oh my God
Somebody tell me (Tell me what's going on), oh my
(Somebody tell me, tell me)
Thank you, good night
