Kids to adults

by Me

From kids to adults

we have replaced the swing with the pint

and the sugar rush with the high.

From kids to adults

we have replaced the innocence with the drama,

the truth with the bullshit,

and curiosity with knowing it all.

From kids to adults

we have replaced wonder with cynicism

and fun with drudgery.

From kids to adults

we have replaced tree houses with mortgages,

Anticipation with dread,

hope with regret,

we have replaced

love with fear.....
