The Walk
[Verse 1: Steven the Levite]
(With my left foot) I left the old me dead at the exit / the heavy body of death keeping me from perfection / (with my right foot) I'm righteous in the sight of the Highest / my pride gets hype but I'm guided by light in a crisis / (get to steppin') the finish line is ahead in the heavens but a lot of Golgotha's and blockers prolong my quest to Him / (my legs limpin') straining to maintain with my head lifted blaming the terrain and complaining whenever heads trippin' / (when I fell) trying to hide it like I'm an imbecile / cats who hid it well try to kill themselves like Ahithophel / (hit the trail) eating but we ain't really been living well / money's getting funny I'm feeling worse than an infidel / (what now?) no time to punk out or discuss doubts / get it flushed out before somebody gets cussed out / (amongst clouds) the Son is shining we're looking up now / earn the badge / burn up the path / moving like cub scouts /
[Hook]
It's the walk / not the talk / not the thought / but the walk / (X4)
[Verse 2: Zae da Blacksmith]
Lord this walk is monstrous / it feels like I'm walking along a gauntlet / with awful assortment of Satan's darts that i'm getting caught with / it sounds grim plus I know it's not only him / this whole world that I'm living in and the enemy that's within (is my nemesis) / I'm pounded by sin and down in the ring / I've been losing these rounds and how will I ever regain my strength (please replenish it) / I know that Your power is found in fellowship / plant me down on the ground surrounded by founts of nourishment / how can Jose keep his way pure / by keeping Your teachings within my reach and keeping all that You say stored / when it's not as if I reject Your gift on the mic / I just wish for the truth I spit to be visible in my life / if it isn't I'm just a hypocrite rapping about your Scriptures and acting as if my life is committed (to Your magnificence) / and I don't care if my music career's successful / Lord I just want You near / make it clear that my life reflects You /
[Verse 3: Stephen the Levite & Zae da Blacksmith]
Yeah it's rugged and though I hate it I love it / cause when I covet I'm covered in blood and brothers discuss it like / (stop frontin') confronting me when I'm bugging or bucking / my sin may win for a minute but in the end I ain't stuck in it / (the punishment) I suffer the consequences for dumbing it / but the wrath of the Father is absent because of what He did / (a ton of sin) carried and buried with Him who's up again / these thorns and thistles are little compared to who we're trusting in / life's like a race / keep my pace in step with the Spirit / don't let me forget the freshness of grace that I get for living / cause that's when I get to tripping and I forget I'm forgiven / instead of living with joy as a weapon to keep from sinning / Lord take my affections give them guidance and direction / there's a time and place for everything even for my aggression / give me might for this plight as I'm fighting and trying to delight in Christ / cause it isn't my opinions or rhymes but what my life is like /
