Umbrellas vs raincoats: Which one will win the fight?
When it rains, people often disagree about how they would like to be protected from the downpour. Some people prefer raincoats, while others stick to umbrellas. But each of them has its pros and cons. Let’s see it.

When to pick umbrellas?

Keep your backpack save
The main advantage of an umbrella compared to a raincoat is the following: Not only will an umbrella keep you dry, but it will also keep your backpack out of the rain.

A raincoat will cover your body, but it can't cover your backpack or bag unless you put them under the raincoat, which would look silly. Also, raincoats aren't as bulky, so your backpack or bag won't fit under them.

Easy to care
Another advantage of umbrellas is that they are easier to store after you come in from the rain. Once you've entered the house or building, just shake it slightly to get rid of any excess water - for etiquette purposes, do this before you enter the building.

Fold it up again, and you're ready to go.
In comparison, it will take some time and some maneuvering to get your raincoat off. You still have to get rid of the excess water afterward, otherwise, you will create a puddle in the lobby of your office building or any other building you enter.

When to pick raincoats?
Now let’s see the difference between an umbrella and a raincoat, comparing the first one with Magnitudo rain ponchos.

Compactness and lightweight features
Even the lightest and most compact mini umbrella will weigh more than a raincoat and take up more room in your bag.

Protection from rain and wind
In a wind gust, an umbrella will only protect your head and upper torso from water.

Another advantage of raincoats is the wind issues. It's hard to hold an umbrella upright when the wind is trying to rip it off. But if you're wearing a raincoat, you won't have that problem.
Even if the wind starts howling, it won't be able to rip your raincoat off you. Think about it:

How often do you see weather reporters using an umbrella during a live storm report? They always wear raincoats because they are more reliable.

Both hands are free
It is not always easy to hold an umbrella in your hand. Also, when it rains hard, holding an umbrella becomes more difficult. Not only do you try to avoid getting wet, but you also make extra effort to hold on to the umbrella, which is getting heavier by the minute.

How to choose raincoats?
If you are into raincoats, here are some tips for you to choose the best raincoat.

Pay attention to:
• quality of fabric
• waterproof level
• weight
• thickness
• hood and sleeves
• durability

For example, Magnitudo raincoats are 100% waterproof (well, that’s what we need in the rain:), and they are lightweight but thick!

And the best part of this is as follows:
They have drawstring tightening on the hood and elastic bands on the sleeves. What does it mean? You will be FULLY protected from tip to toe :)

If the rain is not too heavy, choose an umbrella.

But if the sky is exceptionally dark and the weather forecasters say there will be strong winds, it is better to wear a raincoat.
