Daniel Johnston
And You Love It
[Spoken Word; Mabel Johnston]
...We've just produced a great big lazy bum! And you have no shame; you like it that way
You're an unprofitable servant!
What do you contribute? Well, you say 'I don't contribute anything'... well Daniel, we're contributing 10% of our earnings, and we're working hard for our earnings
We aren't unprofitable
And we're trying to set an example in other things, but
Even if you earned money, you won't contribute to God. You just run out and buy a bunch of rubbish
And you love it that way
[Johnston begins playing piano]
[Uninteligable] - you have really important things to do, Dan
"But I can't see anything worthwhile or very important at all. I can't see why Dad has to work
I'm stuck in my bed all the time, just because I like it. [...] Worry about yourself. I'm not going to be bothered with anybody except my own pleasure. That's what you do. "Thou Shalt Know his purpose". Except you don't have anything to do and you're LAZY. Just LAZY
I bet when you have a home of your own, it'll be a big rubbish dump because you don't CARE
You're too lazy to pick up and straighten up. [...]
You have no pride. You just like your shaggy old ugly self. You go around wearing the dirtiest and torn-up jeans you can get, and then you even go to Church in them. You're proud of it
Well, I can tell you one thing, I'm not proud of it. I'm ASHAMED of it. You think you're pretty cool, and you're bringing me lots of sorrow. [Uninteligable]
