The Soldier, with a Confident Air...
[Narrator]
The soldier, with a confident air, enters the Princess's room.
Takes out his violin, makes sure it's in tune.
Tucks the instrument snugly under his chin, takes a deep breath and begins.
The princess lies unmoving, like a corpse, but when he plays she stirs.
She turns her head, opens her eyes, she breathes, and then she smiles.
She yawns, then laughs and sits up, as if waking from a trance.
And, shaking out her auburn hair, she takes the floor to dance.
