Carman
I’m Saved
[Carman, Choir]

It was a Sunday morn, 10:34
I woke up late on my kitchen floor
From partying last night again
I had to face the day with a head of pain
I fumbled 'round with my TV set
To catch a flick and try to forget
I tuned on this black evangelist
Who preached the Word with a funky twist
His choir grooved then sang and shout
I hopped in my car, went to check it out
I got there late; as I approached the door
There was a big soul brother 'round 6 foot 4
Who reached out to shake with a smile of love
And a hand as big as a boxing glove
Then he said
He looked in my eyes to my soul inside
Then he said these words to me

"Are you saved?"
Saved!
Born all over again
"Are you saved?"
Saved!
Free from the power of sin
"Son, are you saved?"
Saved!
Born all over again
"Are you saved?"
Saved!
Dead to sin
Saved, saved, saved, saved
Saved, saved, saved, saved

Well, I walked right in, I made a left
What I saw, I just nearly 'bout lost my breath
The choir swaying to and fro
As they sang about the battle of Jericho
A preacher man in a three-piece suit
A-two-toned shoes and a tie to boot
He said, "God sent his only Son
To save us from the evil one
If you're not born again, don't stall;
Come down when I give the altar call."
Well, I felt my feet shuffle down the aisle
While sinners marched down single file
And something drove me to my knees
Like a divine electricity
And I said
With my hands held high, I began to cry
And I said these words out loud

"Well, I'm saved!"
Saved!
Born all over again
"I'm saved!"
Saved!
Free from the power of sin
"Son, I am saved!"
Saved!
Born all over again
"I'm saved!"
Saved!
Dead to sin
Dead to sin
Dead to sin
