Robert Charlebois
Mr. Plum
The curious person is Mr Plum
Never Plum(?)
Though he had a one foot leg
A one foot trunk
& a head going one foot high
He juggled daggers without buzz
& sent them flashing through the sky
Always a child & never a man
Poor Mr Plum
The dwarf
He courted Big Bella the bareback rider & tried her
He juggled she rode …
Soon were the appearance of an angelic son
Who caught their days & stole their nights
They called him Gabriel …
Always a child & never a man
Glad Mr. Plum
The dwarf
Sweet Gabriel brought them joy for seven years
Blast all fears
Then suddenly to the dwarf’s dismay
This brillant boy grew taller day by day
Soon the son outgrew his heir
And joy to jealousy gave away
Always a child & never a man
Sad Mr. Plum
The dwarf
Poor Mr Plum grew sick & cold with envy
With envy
Then one night the moon in his head
& moaning in secret
He wished his son dead
A roar of rath
He flashed his knife
& Severed Gabriel’s head
Always a child & never a man
Mad Mr. Plum
The dwarf
As favour to the ___ of the condemned
Like a friend
The hangman …
But the mad dwarf shouting
Shattered the …
No I want to die like a man
And the hangman he…
No longer a child at last a man
… Mr Plum
