The Cafe of Three Doves (Le Café des Trois Colombes)
Nancy in winter, a wet snow
A girl entered in a cafe
Me, I drink my drink, she sat near by
I don't know how to approach her
The rain, the good weather, it's nothing great
But it's good for breaking the ice
Then comes the moment we speak about ourselves
And the snow melted underneath our steps
We met at the cafe of three doves
A date of love without shelter
We were good, we were feeling all alone in the world
We had nothing, but we had all of life
Nancy in spring, it resembled the south
She loved me, and I loved her too
We walked and talked, we remade philosophy
I take (her) photo a thousand times
The little bistros all over the place
Set out their terraces in the sun
But there was too much light and noise
We waited for the night to come
We saw each other at the cafe of three doves
A date of love without shelter
We were good, we were feeling all alone in the world
We had nothing, but we had all of life
Nancy, it's too far, at the edge of the Earth
It gets farther away each anniversary
But I'm certain, my worries remember it
The happiness went by the Lorraine
She went away to follow other paths
That don't often cross mine
I forget you, but it's stronger than me
It happens of me to think of you
We saw each other at the cafe of three doves
A date of love without shelter
We were good, we were feeling all alone in the world
We had nothing, but we had all of life
