The Gift I Bring
Some men bring flowers to say, "I love You"
Gifts wrapped in paper with pretty bows
Sweetheart, I have no gift to hand you
But there's one thing you should know
Even if my pockets are always empty
Still, my heart is filled with love for you
Though I may leave this world a pauper
I'll leave it with a love that's true
The gift I bring is not of silver
Or sparkling diamonds or rings of gold
I can't show this love within me
With any treasure that you can hold
I can't give you fame and fortune
But I can promise this one thing
You have all my heart's devotion
True love will be the gift I bring
And to our children
And their children's children
As we are blessed by God above
May there be memories of joy and laughter
And a legacy of love
With those who walk the road we're paving
We pass this gift on to you
May you treasure the song we're singing
And someday you will sing, too
The gift I bring is not of silver
Or sparkling diamonds or rings of gold
I can't show this love within me
With any treasure that you can hold
I can't give you fame and fortune
But I can promise this one thing
You have all my heart's devotion
True love will be the gift I bring
True love will be the gift I bring
