Forgive Durden
Make Believe
Where there's no factory
Or warden to please
Trees, they've got leaves
Everything's green
No wires and strings with bulbs buzzing
No smoke in the sky, just stars that shine
There's light everywhere, sun fills the air
No dark corner unscathed, no shadow is safe
High above the chimney tops, somewhere off in the sky
There's a burning sun for us, that someday I will go and find
But until that day, it feels so far away
There's songs being sung, fresh air in your lungs
The bird's nests have eggs, not cobwebs
No one goes to sleep with nothing to eat
No one's keeping score
No voices ignored
No orphans who miss their mom and dad's kiss
High above these crumbling roofs, somewhere past the mountain tops
There's a better life for us, that someday we will come across
But 'til our exit's eve, I'll just make believe
I'll play pretend
I'll make believe
I'll imagine a world where I'm happy and naive
I'll put on a show
And perform my part to play
There must be more than this...
And there is, I just know
That I was meant to go
Until then, I'll just play pretend
