This Little House
This little house has been good to me
It’s a peaceful feeling just to turn the key
It’s given warmth and security
And what more do we really need?
I’ve seen every scratch and her every creek
Me and dad planted the maple tree
I put some miles on that old porch swing
Rocking to the rainy nights
And I don’t know where I’ll go from here
Or how the days turned to years
And I can’t get sentimental cause I know only people make the home
But this little house has been good to me
I’ve smelled birthday cakes and Christmas trees
I’ve stacked dishes in that kitchen sink with grandma Thanksgiving Day
I thought I’d live here for my kids to see
But life changes got the best of me
One day I’ll drive ‘em down this little street and show ‘em my old stomping grounds
And I don’t know where I’ll go from here
And how the days turned to years
And I can’t get sentimental cause I know only people make the home
But this little house has been good to me
People come and go but it never leaves
It was raining as I packed so you couldn’t see the tear drop when I drove away
