Now Is Now
Now is now
And you will never sit right here again
In the same position
With the same thoughts in your head
Your foot is dangling down from the chair
And your toes move slowly inside your shoe

Now is now, like in an elevator
The floors pass by as you're going down
The upper line of each door
Followed by handles and narrow windows
All disappearing into the roof above
Until you’re finally down on the ground

And somehow you can't grab it!
Time is made of all these rows
And they can be too small to handle
Sometimes even to remember
You hold on, you cling
To one particular moment
Only to find there's another going on
And the next already on it’s way

Now is now and then was then
- no use wishing it back
Another place, a different person:
Heavy boots made patterns in the snow
She wore a hat that wasn't hers
Only for a moment, still, an eternity
And now, she can only wonder
Where that hat might be
And sometimes it grabs you!
Time is made of all these now's
And once in a while they're just too much
And they get stuck in your head
And you struggle, and you fight
Each & every moment
Even if there's another going on
And yet another on it's way

Now is now and I will never
Sing this song like I just did
With this expression in my voice
And the same motion in my body
And the feeling behind the eyes
My hands turned numb
Until at last, I almost forgot
Where I put them...
