Hop Along
The Diver Song
That diver plays a violin
He never told of his secret sin

When he was playin' the angels would rise from the ocean
But one day his rowboat stopped floatin'
Somebody stole his violin
So he tied a rope around him
Said I don't feel much of anything

Then he dove into the water
Let the waves crawl around him

His hands need more than medicine
He jumped before the water knew what hit it

That captain played the tambourine
His heart was set on singin' to the sea
If he'd only found the perfect guitarist
He wouldn't feel that hopelessness or restlessness
It never occurred to him to learn on his own
He sailed along the loneliest still waters, skin and bone
But one must wonder: can we feel sad for this sort of man?
Who burns with a brain that refuses to honor enough to learn?
That's the kind of shit that sinks those ships

Head down, ignore
When he said he would not look back at the shore
He dropped his arms
Said they're not much for sailing anymore

My brothers both have gone sailing
Brought their drums and all their valuable things
I will miss them more than anything, I know it
But unlike the others that have drowned they have a love for something so strong
I know they'll get along alright
As long as they're playing they'll make it through the night
As long as we play for each other we're alright
As long as we play for each other, we're alright, we're alright
We'll make it through the night
