Foot of the Mountain (MTV Unplugged)
[Verse 1]
Keep your clever lines, hold your easy rhymes
Silence everything, silence always wins
It's a perfect alibi, there's no need to analyse
It will be all right through the longest night, just silence everything
[Chorus]
We could live by the foot of the mountain
We could clear us a yard in the back
Build a home by the foot of the mountain
We could stay there and never come back
[Verse 2]
Learn from my mistake, leave what others take
Speak when spoken to, just do what others do
Silence always wins, so silence everything
It will be all right in the morning light, just silence everything
[Chorus]
We could live by the foot of the mountain
We could clear us a yard in the back
Build a home by the foot of the mountain
We could stay there, see how it ends
We could stay there and never come back
We could live by the foot of a mountain
We could make us a white picket fence
Build a home by the foot of the mountain
We could stay there and see how it ends
We could stay there and see how it ends
We could stay there and see how it ends

[Morten]
Alright, so you know that some of this is probably gonna go on a record. Um..
[Magne Furuholmen]
Some!
[Morten]
Maybe all of it, who knows! So you're part of this, uh, recording, um, of a TV special, uh, mentioned it going in, for MTV, took us thirty years after we, uh, were first shown on MTV to get there. So- but you know. It's great. It's great to, erm- It's actually, it's actually given us, uh, erm- I mean, doing this, uh, this Unplugged has given us a, um, a whole different take on our own songs, you know, we sort of dismantled everything, and- and- and started from scratch, uh, and some places started somewhere else, and it's actually been really fantastic experience to do it. Uh, I think we all got inspired, and-
[Magne]
But we are slow
[Morten]
Very friendly in the process
[Magne]
We are slow. I think ten years ago MTV sort of gave up trying to get us to do this thing
[Morten]
And here we are
[Magne]
And- and here we are! That's right
