Dan Campbell
A Conversation With The Ground In August
Section 28, Row 3, Plot 21.
I'm finally here and I'm sorry it took so damn long
I've just been busy is all and I know excuses excuses
I wrote you another song and I'm not sure who I'm talking to
or why I think me playing music into the grass and ground
in front of a headstone means anything to anyone but me
or if the people in these houses behind the cemetery think
I'm delirious or if this is a near-daily occurrence for them and
I'll bet it's nice to be under such a pretty tree and I know it's lost its
leaves and grown new ones that it's about to lose again before
I made it here and I'm so sorry it's just that I've been scared
and I'm not sure of what We got a dog for Christmas
His name is George and I think you'd really like him
He's been a bright spot in an otherwise dark year for me
and I don't know why I'm sobbing so hard talking about him
but it's really killing me The world isn't doing so great Pop
I'm a little relieved you don't have to watch it crumble
