[Intro]
And in the news today, NPR is reporting that the cost of the war in Iraq could surpass eighty million dollars in fiscal 2005
Now we're saying total expenditures for the war pass two hundred million dollars
And The Washington Times recently reported, according to army documents and officials, Halliburton's logistics contract with the US Army in Iraq has been worth at least 9.6 billion dollars since the start of the war and is mounting at a cost of about six million dollars a year
Meanwhile, CNN has reported that there have been one thousand seven hundred and forty-two coalition troop deaths in the war in Iraq as of April 22nd, 2005
At least twelve thousand two hundred and two US troops have been murdered in action, according to the Pentagon
The Pentagon does not report the number of non-hostile wounded, and there are no official reports made of the Iraqi civilian body count
Although, as of April 15th, 2005 the approximate figure was over twenty thousand people
[Verse 1]
Somehow, I think I'm goin' home
Even though my friends can't reach me
I don't know how I ended up alone
All I know is you can't save me
They only asked us to believe
They only wanted us to follow
I think I'm old enough to see
I think I'm goin' home tomorrow
[Pre-Chorus]
I believe in
[Chorus]
Sinners (Sinners) and hypocrites (And hypocrites)
Burning in the desert for a rich man (Rich man)
Liars (Liars) and lunatics (And lunatics)
Lead us to the slaughter for our last stand (Last stand)
Killers (Killers) and idiots (And idiots)
Dying in the desert for a rich man (Rich man)
Sinners (Sinners) and hypocrites (And hypocrites)
Gather us together for the master plan
[Verse 2]
I didn't bother with my faith
How will my family recognize me?
Somehow, I think I'm goin' home
But I still can't comprehend it
[Bridge]
I know I don't want to die
But I know dying will not end it
[Pre-Chorus]
I believe in
[Chorus]
Sinners (Sinners) and hypocrites (And hypocrites)
Burning in the desert for a rich man (Rich man)
Liars (Liars) and lunatics (And lunatics)
Lead us to the slaughter for our last stand (Last stand)
Killers (Killers) and idiots (And idiots)
Dying in the desert for a rich man (Rich man)
Sinners (Sinners) and hypocrites (And hypocrites)
Gather us together for the bastards
[Bridge]
I know the truth is all a lie
My skin is cracking on my lips
I don't pretend that I can understand why we are doing this
My heart has bled a thousand times
How will I live with what we've done?
The only comfort is the knowledge that I'm not the only one
Yeah
Why am I here?
What did I do?
Why? (Why?)
Why? (Why?)
Why? (Why?)
Why?
[Outro]
