Napoleon XIV
The Children in the Street
The fact is cold, but crystal clear, that life's a one-way climb
The present and the past can never meet
The doors that lead to yesteryear are locked by Father Time
But the windows are the children in the street
With each new dawn
I listen for the sounds
Of children in the street
So happily at play
The sounds of joy
Of innocence and youth
Of simple songs they sing
And nonsense words they say
And when they smile
I'm blindly unaware
Thе chorus of my life
Has long ago been sung
I see the glow
Of laughter in thеir eyes
And magically, it seems
That once again, I'm young
And I'm among
The children in the street
