This Is What Mercy Does
He can still see the tears in the father's eyes
When he turned and he walked out the door
He can still hear the hurt in a trembling voice
Saying, "Son, please don't go"
But he won't anymore
He longed for bright eyes to make his mark
To leave his own life
He never planned on a time it would fall apart
But the world can change in a day
He never planned that his heart
Would wanna go back homе
And he wondered what his fathеr would say
But tears filled his eyes
When he found arms opened wide
This is what mercy does
This is how a father loves
He offers what is undeserved
This is how forgiveness feels
This is how redemption heals
And the past is left behind because
This is what mercy does
I felt the weight of the world in my soul
I confess, I was just like him, oh...
But I felt the weight of my Father's arms
As He covered the shame of my every sin
And I'm still amazed that He gives me his grace
This is what mercy does
This is how a Father loves
He offers what is undeserved
This is how forgiveness feels
This is how redemption heals
And the past is left behind because
This is what mercy does
This is what mercy does
This is how a Father loves
He offers what is undeserved
And this is how forgiveness feels
This is how redemption heals
And the past is left behind because
This is what mercy does
This is what mercy does
