Week 10: Jets Upset Steelers
This Week 10 joust between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets was played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (Home of the Jets and Giants). The Steelers entered at 6-3, coming off of a blowout win over Baltimore. The Jets were 1-8 entering Sunday after a loss to Kansas City.
The Jets took the lead first on a 23 yard field goal by Nick Folk about midway through the 1st quarter. Then the Jets got in front by a lot. 4 minutes later T.J. Graham hauled in a 67 yard TD pass from Michael Vick to put the Jets ahead 10-0. The Jets scored once more with 19 seconds remaining in the quarter when Vick hit Jace Amaro on a 5 yard TD pass. The Jets were up big on the Steelers- 17-0 after just a quarter of play.
The 2nd quarter was nearly scoreless, but Shaun Suisham connected on a 53 yard field goal attempt as time expired to cut the deficit to 2 possessions- 17-3 Jets at the half. New York went back up by 3 possessions, however, when Nick Folk hit a 30 yard field goal over 10 minutes into the 3rd quarter. The score was 20-3 Jets after 3.
Midway through the 4th quarter, Suisham hit a 27 yard field goal to make the score 20-6. With 1:16 left, the Steelers closed in on the Jets when Martavis Bryant scored on an 80 yard TD pass from Ben Roethlisberger, but it would prove to be petty. The Jets won 20-17 to improve to 2-8 while the Steelers dropped to 6-4.
