She ran she ran around the corner

She could hear the footsteps
Breathing
She crouched low behind the table
In the reflection she could see a figure moving
A beam of light came and she realized the
Darkness would not hide her for long
She took a breath and ran
She ran as fast as she could to the back of the house
The light of the flashlight dancing like a shiny knife blade
Her eyes held the look of fear
He leapt on her
She recognized him from a dream she had
Actually the dream was still happening and
She woke up screaming
Then laughing in profound relief
