[Bars]
Nothing was better than my freshman year in college
Everything was solid up in UNC Charlotte
The homies were cool and the ladies weren't thots
But let me tell you 'bout the time I almost got shot
I was always home with my brand new family
D, Solo, Brandon, Lance and light-skinned Anthony
We pretty much called ourselves a fraternity
With a crew like this, it's too righteous
Most certainly, we glowin' like some blue light sticks
And everywhere we went, dawg, we would group nice chicks
Ask anyone who knew my clique, we was the truth
Young, black and full of cash, plus we flew nice whips
But anyway, one night, we decided to go out
D was tryin' to stay home, homie was tryin' to hold out
I told him we was inviting the girls from the sixth floor
Eyes started to glow and he said "let's go"
I hit the shower, splashed on some Brut
Grabbed my silk shirt, it was faded black and blue
Finally got a chance where I patent leather white shoes
Didn't quite fit, but I wanted some nice kicks
So that's alright, dude
Headed to the parking lot with Brandon
Tiffany and Les from the sixth flo' wanted to hop inside
I said "you can ride only if you dancin'
Yeah, I'm demandin', you ain't ridin' if you standin'"
Les was like, "shut up, Tony, just give us a ride
And when get to the club, you might get a couple of grinds"
We jumped inside of my 325i
Opened the moonroof, street lights fly by
Leslie in the back seat, hands high, laughin'
"1 Thing" by Amerie on the radio blastin'
Pulled up to the place, University on the Lake
Met the rest of the crew already standing at the gate
Yo, the line was thick, I'm talkin' 9s and 10s
You see dudes with do-rags and boots tryin' to get it
Brandon knew the bouncer, yeah, we was on the right track
Plus we had four ladies with us, clubs like that
We in the line only waiting like 'bout minutes
Everything positive until we heard a ruckus
Dude was in the front, was like "let me in the club
Or I'm going to the trunk and I murder your motha"
Hold up
D was tuggin' on my shirt, sayin' "let's leave"
Dawg, this is pure silk, let go of my sleeve
What came next was like straight out of a movie
Dude actually went and grabbed what looked like an Uzi
And started shooting, all you heard was glass shattering
Bullet shots and screams, the crowd started scattering
Everyone was fearful, we were so close
That it felt like a hundred bullets whizzin' past my earlobes
Ducking behind cars, we ran to my vehicle
He started shooting in the air, it's a miracle
No one got hit, I hit the gas thinking out loud
"Nah dude, I ain't going out like this!"
Popped the curb, running red lights, the girls were hysterical
Brandon yelled, "man, you almost got shot, I'm tellin' you
You was right next to him, runnin' past the ATM"
I was still in shock, I didn't know what to say to him
Got back to campus, we rushed to the lobby
Tiffany was crying as she sat down beside me
Les was like, "how could that dude do that?"
Then Brandon looked down and said:
"Homie, where your shoe at?"
The next day, we skipped class, watching the news
Trying to figure out what happened, get a couple of clues
Solo said, "wait a minute, DVR, press rewind"
Wow, they really did a close up of the shoe that I left behind
[Outro]
I mean, it was kinda embarrassing
I had to go down to the police precinct and get my shoe
I mean, I spent $120 on them damn shoes
I'ma get my shoes
The guy was like, "yo, let me see the other matching shoe"
And I showed him
Like that
It was crazy
