The Outside

In the winter at nighttime

I look up at the night sky

Through my Orion telescope

And on the moon there’s a crater

Such a natural disaster

Sometimes the bigger picture lies

Everything’s fine on the outside

Everything’s fine

Everything’s fine

This town, it feel like a coffin

Now that the gas price is droppin

So I’ve been driving more often

Farther away

The single streetlight is dying

For awhile it’s been flickering

But no one noticed it’s broken

Everyone’s sleeping

There’s a creature that crawls in my window at night sometimes

And it kind of looks like me

There’s fear in its eyes and its teeth are all showing

It crawls on its hands and its knees

It’s everything I don’t want to be

It’s everything I don’t want to be

So I lay in my bed, and I cover my head

With the sheets
