Does It Ever Cross Your Mind?

Does it ever cross your mind

The wonder that it is to be alive

Or walking in a purple sky

And that crosswalk guard in a yellow vest

Leading children to their morning bell

One last thought came streaming through the cracks

And stopped me in my tracks along the way

Of all the corners of the universe

We wound up hand in hand

Picking up the slack in each other’s lives

Right here where we stand

Some may call it a coincidence

I guess what I prefer

But I prefer design

Does it ever cross your mind

I could’ve been born in Bangladesh

But I wasn’t, I was born here

With just enough jellybeans in my basket

To ask you to go a’wishing on a star

That same star might’ve broke from the big ol’ bang

It’s almost too much to comprehend

Yes this world is full of mystery

But somewhere from the secret we descend

Of all the corners of the universe

We wound up hand in hand

Picking up the slack in each other’s lives

Right here where we stand

Some may call it a coincidence

I guess what I prefer

But I prefer design

Does it ever cross your mind?

The miracle of all of this

Does it ever cross your mind?
