Some city folks are staying at a place right near our farm
The other night they gave a dance and held it in our barn
A city band was playing while they danced around the floor
They did one called the mambo that I never saw before

Well, the mambo is a hoedown that's just got a Latin beat
To me it looks just like they're dancing on each other's feet
The feller who is calling has a stomach pain, no doubt
When it starts to hurt him, he'll stand right up and shout (Ugh)

It sounds just like a breakdown and they play it mighty fast
Instead of using fiddles they just use alone the brass
If my brains ever jumbled, I'll have myself a fling
I'll take a chance and learn to dance that crazy mambo thing

On Saturday I went down to the square dance in our town
I told the fiddle player about this mambo dance I found
He said if I describe it, he would try to play it too
But when I tried to tell him, here's the best that I could do
