Long Term Relationships Were Only “Cool” When Divorce “Wasn’t” [Demo]

[Intro Monologue]
The other day my dad told me if I wanted to, I could live with him. or I could- I could be under his custody, but I get to go home whenever I wanted to
And maybe babysit, to take my mom’s money, because he didn't want to pay child support, and then we could hang out and reap the benefits of this
So in other words, he was just trying to get me to fuck over my mom. I- I hate my mom, but its not really right to try ask me to take one side of the battle that's kind of, you know, that's not gonna be won because who evеr wins is not gonna do the right thing for their country, if i can use that mеtaphor
And.. I don't like this situation I'm in because, things will be good for five days, and all of a sudden, someone will call their lawyer as soon as this happens and this family will be set in stones

[Verse]

What's the point of listening
When your words are filled with lies?
A spoken sense of burning down
Your bridges and your ties
Phone calls laced with memories
Of what will never be
The judge's voice is cold and clear
"No more family"
We'll be buried in a graveyard
Next to my childhood
It's just a place I visit because
"It'll do me good"
When I grow up
I will thank you and dad for this
But I won't pretend I forgive you
When you say "sorry, kids"

What's the point of listening
When your words are filled with lies?
A spoken sense of burning down
Your bridges and your ties
Phone calls laced with memories
Of what will never be
The voice of Death is cold and clear
"No more family"
We'll be buried in a graveyard
Next to my childhood
The eulogy suggests that we once said, “We could"
But life is not about us
For you and dad at least
So don't expect forgiveness when you say
"We're sorry"
[Outro]
WE STAND ON OUR OWN
LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL OUR HOME
WE STAND ON OUR OWN
LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL OUR HOME
WE STAND ON OUR OWN
LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL OUR HOME
WE STAND ON OUR OWN
LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL OUR HOME
(LOOKING FOR A PLACE)
