Blue’s Sad Song
[BLUE]
Dear old friend, dear old foe
I guess I'm not surprised that you had to go

I remember a time
A simpler time and place
When all we had to do was yearn with youthful zest
All we had to do was burn with youthful rage
And grow into our wrinkles
Into our crinkles
Crinkle-cut skin

But now I'm getting tired of the fight to win
And I really really need my wizard rest

Time to scheme...and dream
I want to see beyond this stupid realm, go through that tunnel of light
Sit high upon a cloud...
And stop fighting with myself, stop fighting with myself

And when I cut the pineapple or slice the mango peel
I wonder if the blade just slipped...

The red mess, like beet juice, all over the kitchen
Hospital bandages...
But no
If I ever did that
Something so senseless
I'd have the decency to do it in the bathtub
It'd be sad
But at least it would be contained
