Clayton Jennings
Give Me Faith
[Verse 1: Clayton Jennings]
25,000 people starve to death a day
But we somehow just push it away
And racism still runs rampant, and I'm just saying facts
Like in South Africa farm murders whites slaughtered by blacks
I'm sorry if mentioning violence against whites makes you mad
And I'm sorry if you felt attacked
But on second thought, I take that back
Only a racist would have felt attacked by that
Because it's wrong regardless of skin color or where it's at
Some people hate the fact that I spit these facts
Don't let them divide us, they're all fakes in disguise
I've seen behind the scenes of the enemy's lines
And now I need laundry detergent for both of my eyes
Every word, every line, I have a surgical mind
Putting gloves on, but not for Corona, it's surgery time
Known to be peaceful, but I'll murder these lines
I'm a white man, hugging my leg was a black kid
I looked down, and he had the biggest smile you could imagine
A beautiful soul trapped in a frail bony body slowly fading while starving
America's waste is so great we could feed the whole human race
You want a picture of greed? Take a look at its face
I'm ashamed I've ever complained
But we're so focused on our own hurt we forget other people's pain
I don't judge anyone, who decides what's sane?
You can have a beautiful face but a terrible brain
If you've never felt their wounds, you'll never dress their pain
Let alone ever know how to address their pain
Rest in peace to the unknown names who were quarantine-killed
Mental illness can kill, I know it well
Bipolar, depressed, given labels and pills
Suicides are on the swell if you couldn't tell
And the night gets the darkest for the mentally ill
I know because I'm one of them
And now I'm fed up
And I'm not talking about food, I'm fed up with you
But speaking about food, no money means no food to eat
You should just try farming things
Put on some John Deere and pretend that it's Halloween
Wander into your backyard and just start farming things
School taught us the history of famines but never harvesting
And why did we never learn a single thing about gardening?
At least we can do Algebra and move the "x" while starving
They say school is there to grow us morally and even productively, too
Then start teaching kids how to do taxes and how to grow food
And money management, too
I never learned either when I was in school
I just memorized textbook texts for testing
Shoutout to the real teachers who cared, it's refreshing
But teaching kids they're here on accident isn't the best thing
I know because the suicidal constantly text me
Rumors become tumors if left to live in your head
Spiders live online, that's why they call it the web
Kindness brought me back, a simple hug and a text
Connect before correct like Rich Wilkerson said
I stopped reading words unless written in red
Because if Jesus didn't say it, I don't care who did
[Verse 2: Blake Whiteley]
All I give you are these ashes
Need my faith to be more than a caption
Yeah, we talk but got to put it to action
I need that one-on-one real-life interaction
I need that intimacy where I'm giving my passion
Redirect my focus, eliminating distractions
Satisfaction, I can only imagine
Giving up this life for You in small fractions
One day, I'm gon' spend eternity in Your presence, it's everlasting
Try and mimic the feeling but nothing ever matches
I don't rap just to get a reaction
I want to see 'em saved and hate turned to compassion
So dependent on where you at
Just because you're down it doesn't mean that you're trapped
Under attack so now you wanna retract
Give it up to God, it's time to bounce back

[Chorus: Blake Whiteley]
Take me higher
Make me a survivor
Redirect my focus
'Til You're my heart's desire
I took all I can take, and now I'm really under fire
Give me faith, Lord, to do more than required
