Hungry Lights
The Awry Ascent
Every step shall resonate as the culling of privation
And in the echo of my forward betterment?
I'd blaze a path for more to draggle

Burned by the false wonder
Yet still, I felt content
Afraid of the sound of the chimes
In their very nature was how I made my choice
For the awry ascent

O' how I roared for a cease!
A staircase not of sense, but made of dreams that evade
And grow until the ivy sprouts into the sky
And shadows true existence
-A false mirage
What a foul immersion!

Burned by the false wonder
Yet still, I felt content
Afraid of the sound of the chimes
In their very nature was how I made my choice
For the awry ascent

No seer would tell me of my discarded faith
I dismissed such heed
I was embodied with pride—O' ego!
-The worst of evils
Burned by the false wonder
Yet still, I felt content
Afraid of the sound of the chimes
In their very nature was how I made my choice
For the awry ascent

How the albatross can soar with those heavy, iron wings
They would weigh me like a stone with a chiseled, cosmic story
I admired such vim
I admired such courage
For it showed me I could fly
If I only would endure
