Feel You Burn
[Intro]
Ayo
This is a story
About a kid
Who takes the people that love him most
For granted
And he doesn't realise what's important
Till it's too late
Yo

[Verse 1]
His name is Jason, and he's kinda impatient
An only child with a single mother tryin' to raise him
But he'll lie to her face and blame her for prior occasions
Sayin' she's the reason his dad left, and that gets her tired and shaken
He thinks fires amazin', he likes to play with sparklers
Lob them in the air and let them drop to where his neighbour's grass is
He ain't an arsonist, but he often stares at flames regardless
Maybe he's just gotten scared and not prepared to face the darkness
He's replaced his father's presence with some drug abuse
He's only thirteen, he just reckons it can up his mood
Enterin' his mother's room to beg her for a buck or two
He sees her reading through a letter then she doesn't move
All of a sudden shoes are flyin' over desks and her
Hands are shaking, Jason finds the note it says that the
Doctors felt a lump inside her so they then scanned her
She says, "Sweetie, I've been diagnosed with breast cancer"
[Chorus]
And I can feel you burn
I can feel you burn
Your burnin' up, burnin' up
Burnin' up in them flames
And I can you feel burn
I can feel you burn
Your burnin' up, burnin' up
Burnin' up and away

[Verse 2]
The cancer has spread, his mother's in pain and she's nauseous
Jason ignores it when she's stuck with her face in the toilet
He ain't the sort to have the guts to be brave and supportive
He thinks the chemo's doin' nothin but makin' her more sick
Payin' a fortune for all of her medication
His mother is nearly broke, no instalments or credit payments
She falls in depression facin' a wall that is never breakin'
And the hospital says it will call when a bed is vacant
And then there's Jason goin' hard on the liquor
After half of pinger, barges in, startin' an argument with her
He says he's starvin' and sick of havin' pasta for dinner
"I asked for a Zinger Burger, is that too hard to consider?"
After a bit of time his mother's in a hospice
All of a sudden, she's becomin' unresponsive
Some doctors come runnin' in, though none of them are rostered
Jason holds her hand as he stutters and just watches
[Chorus]
And I can feel you burn
I can feel you burn
Your burnin' up, burnin' up
Burnin' up in them flames
And I can you feel burn
I can feel you burn
Your burnin' up, burnin' up
Burnin' up and away

[Verse 3]
Jason is gutted, it's the day of his mother's funeral
He doesn't lose his cool, being brave and more tough than usual
Next to the open casket, sayin' his mum is beautiful
Kisses her on the cheek, and waits till the fuckin' room is full
Then after the service, the coffin is taken
Off to a vacant crematorium for proper cremation
As it's placed into the cremator, Jason watches it blazin'
Then suddenly his stomach drops, he's stuck in shock and his body is shakin'
He grabs the edge of his mother's casket and starts to scream
''Don't leave, Mum, sorry, I'm such a bastard, please
I was harsh and mean
How do you turn this fuckin' thing off? Don't worry, Ma, it's me
Help me get her out!'' It's too fuckin' late
His grandmother hugs him and promises that his mum is safe
Jason doesn't play with fire no more, that stuff he hates
'Cause every flame and lighter just reminds him of his mother's face
[Chorus]
And I can feel you burn
I can feel you burn
Your burnin' up, burnin' up
Burnin' up in them flames
And I can you feel burn
I can feel you burn
Your burnin' up, burnin' up
Burnin' up and away
