Charles Bukowski
The Atomic Age
[Hook: rimer]
We dug a hole deep beneath our souls
And took up shelter in winter's cold
[Verse: rimer]
Life has its way of bringing down the strongest
It's more like an obstacle course, a lucky draw, and
Less of a contest
We think we're born into freedom
Realize we're pawns to bondage
Slave to numbers
Follower counts is our only problem
You see, the glitter, glam, twitter, 'gram, and
Superficial fads have crippled man
From doing the simple acts of kindness
Passing a simple thanks, we're blinded
Thinking the rigorous acts arе hindering our ambitions
The matter of fact is, if you want a way
You'll find it
But еven after it is found, you've got the competition
Rap to me, stopped being a sport. It's now become a mission
The goal is to be poetically vulnerable
So when the thunder crackles
You know my songs will welcome the trembled
(besides)
Everything I took interest in seems to have come to a halt and
(besides)
Everything I critique, it seems to me, I'm part of the problem
(besides)
No matter how dark the night gets, there awaits a morning
So what's another battle compared to all the wars we fought?
[Monologue: Charles Bukowski]
This is a different age
It's The Atomic Age
Each line must have its own juice
It must not bore the reader, the writer...
Anybody
Don't you see?
[Hook: rimer]
We dug a hole deep beneath our souls
And took up shelter in winter's cold
